Common questions about Trade Check

Is this really free? What's the catch?
Yes — genuinely free, no signup, no card details. Trade Check is a free tool from Holdr because it's good for the NZ trading card community. If you later want a full Verified Report or a SafeTrade for higher-value cards, those are paid — but you'll never be required to pay anything to use Trade Check.
How does the comparison actually work?
Both parties photograph the card and mark the inner printed border. We compare the calibrated centring measurements and visual fingerprint of the card. If something doesn't match — a corner ding, a different print run, a different card entirely — the report flags it. Result is emailed to both parties.
What if the other party refuses to verify?
They don't have to. But if a trade partner won't spend two minutes confirming the card matches what was advertised, that's a useful signal in itself. The link is yours to share — or to walk away from.
How long does the verification take?
Your side: about two minutes including the photo. The other party's side: same. The comparison itself runs in under a minute once both submissions are in. The whole flow from start to result is usually under five minutes of actual work.
Trade Check vs SafeTrade — which one do I need?
Trade Check (free) is a sanity check between two parties who already trust each other but want a paper trail. SafeTrade ($9) is for when you don't trust the other party at all — Holdr physically holds the card until both sides confirm, so neither party is exposed. Rule of thumb: if you'd be upset losing the value of the card, use SafeTrade.
What does Holdr do with my photos and email?
Photos are stored only as long as needed for the comparison and the result email — typically deleted within 30 days. Your email is used only to send the magic link and the result. No marketing emails, no resale, no training. Email info@holdr.co.nz to delete anything earlier.
